Plastics Recycling Show to launch in Brazil in May 2027
Joint initiative from Crain Communications and ABIPLAST will bring the plastics recycling industry together in São Paulo
Brazil will for the first time host an edition of the Plastics Recycling Show (PRS), the international event dedicated to plastics recycling. PRS Brazil will take place on 17 and 18 May 2027 at the Renaissance São Paulo Hotel, bringing together representatives from across the value chain to discuss the challenges, opportunities and pathways for the development of plastics recycling and the circular economy in Brazil and Latin America.
The initiative is a partnership between Crain Communications, the US-based media company with specialist publications serving the plastics industry, and ABIPLAST (Brazilian Plastics Industry Association). The arrival of PRS in Brazil expands the international presence of the PRS brand, which also holds events in Amsterdam, Mumbai, Shanghai and Dubai.
In its first edition in the country, the PRS Brazil conference will provide a platform for high-level debate, market information and the presentation of practical solutions aimed at advancing plastics recycling. The event will bring together decision makers, recyclers, converters, brand owners, machinery and technology suppliers, policymakers and sustainability experts.
The launch comes at an important time for the industry, as companies across the value chain respond to Decree No. 12,688/2025, which regulates reverse logistics and the use of recycled content in plastic packaging in Brazil. Against this backdrop, the event aims to provide a forum for discussion of market developments, technologies, public policy and practical approaches to increasing the recovery and reuse of plastics.
“The launch of PRS Brazil is an important step in bringing the PRS platform to one of the world’s most significant plastics markets. Brazil has a dynamic plastics industry and an important role to play in developing the circular economy. Our partnership with ABIPLAST gives us an excellent opportunity to create an event that reflects the priorities and opportunities of the recycling markets in Brazil and across Latin America,” says Matthew Barber, Global Events Director at Crain Communications.
The conference programme will bring together perspectives from across the plastics value chain, promoting the exchange of knowledge and discussion of advances in recycling technologies, as well as the market and regulatory factors influencing the development of the sector.
“The transition towards a more circular plastics economy requires collaboration across the entire value chain. PRS Brazil will create an important space for dialogue between recyclers, converters, suppliers, brands and other stakeholders, helping to share knowledge, identify opportunities and strengthen the development of plastics recycling in Brazil. ABIPLAST is pleased to be working with Crain Communications on this new initiative,” says Paulo Teixeira, Executive President of ABIPLAST.
Plastics Recycling Show Brazil is organised by Crain Communications and ABIPLAST, in partnership with Plastics Recyclers Europe. FIMIC, the Italian company specialising in equipment and technologies for mechanical plastics recycling, has been confirmed as Gold Sponsor of the launch event.
PRS Brazil 2027 will be the first stage in the development of the event. From 2028, it will expand to become an annual exhibition and conference, creating a larger platform for companies, technology providers and industry organisations to showcase their solutions and engage directly with the Brazilian and wider Latin American plastics recycling markets.
